I believe every girl should have 1 red lipstick. I have a couple but I wanted something a little more neutral red than the ones I currently own. And so came in the Mac Russian Red.

Russian Red became famous when pop star Madonna called it her favorite color back in the 1990’s after her Blond Ambition World Tour. It is a dark red lipstick, which is neutral but looks slightly cool toned on my warm skin tone. I think this is a very classy red. The lipstick is really pigmented and you have to be careful to not apply it anywhere besides your lips.

It’s a color that would look good on any skin tone. The problem could be the texture. This is a matte lipstick and can still enhance dry lips. But this is creamier than some of the other Mac’s matte lipsticks.  I use a lip balm before using this and the lipstick works well for me. And I have dry lips! The trick is to apply and keep a lip balm on for 10 minutes and then gently removing it off with a tissue before using a matte lipstick.

Russian Red doesn’t last long on me, on its own, but it doesn’t bleed. It just goes away, leaving a stain. A lip liner and an application of balm before makes it stay longer, about 4-6 hours, without eating much of course.
