I have been reading and hearing about great natural beauty recipes forever, but you don’t believe such stuff (at least I don’t) till you actually see the results yourself. There are some recipes that I have tested and over the years have loved. Writing down my favs:
Neem Water – I had a very bad case of acne in school and I drank ¼ cup of water boiled with few Neem leaves (twice I think) and I have never had such issue again. Neem is a natural antiseptic/antibacterial and also purifies blood, but it can be very drying, and so should be taken cautiously.
Yogurt – Only one ingredient and it’s a great recipe for a clean and glowy face!! Use it plain or mix it with Ubtan for cleansing or with honey for extra moisture. I started using it a year or 2 back and now use it about thrice a week. To start with it felt kind of tingly and not in a good way and also left my skin oily, but over the time I have come to love it. I don’t use it as often in winters and for the same reason, I’m not quite sure if it would suit oily or sensitive skin.
Eggs and Olive Oil Treatment – The smell of the eggs can be crazy bad, but it works wonders as a hair mask for dry hair. Apply onto roots and hair, cover your head with shower cap and keep it on for half an hour before washing it off.
Tomato – If you can ignore the tingling sensation and the weird smell, it’s great to get rid of the sun tan. Has been my family favourite for as long as I can remember. It can be a bit drying though, so I mainly use it for body.
Tea Bags or Cucumber/Potato slices – Chilled, used tea bags or even Cucumber or Potato slices are great for tired/puffy eyes. I sometimes also use the chilled gel pads I bought from Kryolan store.
Oatmeal/Raw Milk pack – A good face pack for glowy, moisturized skin.
Magnetized Glycerin –I used to get acupressure done a while back and that is where I learnt the pros of magnetized fluids. One of the benefits of glycerin magnetized with South Pole for some days (a specific no.), is its ability to heal chapped or cracked skin. And trust me; I have tried at least 5-7 lip balms before realizing that nothing works better for my chapped/dry lips than magnetized glycerin.
Ubtan – Ubtan is basically a mixture of different, natural powders that deep cleanses your skin. I used to make one earlier by mixing anything I could get my hands on, like – Turmeric (Haldi), Chickpea flour (Besan), dried orange peel, sandalwood powder, fuller’s earth etc.. But now I’ve become just plain lazy, since I have found Forest Essentials Ubtan that I reviewed earlier Here.
Please bear in mind that these recipes and variations of these worked amazingly for me and a few people I know, but might not work for you.
What’s your favourite home remedy?.. Love, Jas 🙂
